This law was put in place to regulate the credit bureaus and any furnisher on how they handle credit data on a consumer’s credit file. If any of the laws are violated, the consumer has a right to bring a legal claim against the credit bureaus and/or the furnisher. The Fair Credit Reporting Act is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission.
